Dear Peaks Island Families,

As many of you know, our school has experienced a growing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 among students and staff. There are currently 13 reported positive COVID cases. This exceeds the current state definition of an outbreak. An outbreak is when more than 15% of students and staff are absent because of a specific illness. Consequently, Peaks Island School will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, November 22nd. This closure will provide time for students and staff to isolate for at least 5 days per CDC protocols and to thoroughly clean the facility. All students and staff should monitor for symptoms. School will resume on Monday, November 28th. 

All parent conferences that have been scheduled for today and tomorrow will still take place unless you have heard otherwise from your child's teacher. No conferences will take place in person today or tomorrow. Your child's teacher has already sent an email to you about this. If virtual conferences present a problem for any of you, please contact your child's teacher and alternative arrangements will be made with you after our Thanksgiving break.
