Our school library is located on the second floor and contains a mural painted by Suzanne Parrot, a former parent and current islander.

• Bridget Joyce, our librarian, helps students explore different genres and access information. It is a comfortable, welcoming  space, which is also used for school- related meetings. While we do not have fines for late returns, students are required to return any overdue books before borrowing additional items.
• Peaks Island students are very lucky to have our Portland Public Library’s Peaks Island Branch located within a 5 minute walk. Students regularly visit our island library for activities, book borrowing and learning life-long library skills. Teachers and our Peaks’  librarian collaborate in planning and encourage visiting the library all year.
• Our School Library is also at the heart of our STEAM curriculum. Ms. Joyce leads  STEAM classes for students each week and has been awarded grants. Our students have access to technology to support the STEAM curriculum and Maker-Space activities. Each year in the Spring, there is a STEAM Night, which is open to the community and students share their projects and learning.
