Principal, Teachers, and Staff Availability and Communication
Our Principal, teachers and staff most typically use email to communicate and inform parents. This includes the ReachMyTeach app.
While the ferry system impacts the time before and after school in-person availability, we are able to provide parents/guardians time to meet and talk about students. Please email teachers directly or contact our school office (207) 766-2528. Staff can be contacted directly by email. Email our school secretary Pat Crowley-Rockwell at crowlp@portlandschools.org or call 207-766-2528, if you have any questions about how to get in touch with us!
Teachers provide updates on classroom activities on a periodic basis through classroom newsletters, which are often emailed to parents. Teachers may also send notes home. Your child’s teacher will let you know the best way to learn important information and how to be a partner in your child’s learning.
There are many opportunities available for families to learn about our school and become involved:
Annual Survey
Parent surveys are distributed once a year, usually after spring parent-teacher conferences. This survey is intended to capture parent opinions and suggestions regarding their family’s experience at PIES. This survey has a direct impact on school operations and we urge you to complete this survey each year.
Newsletters
Our Principal and teachers often send out newsletters through emails highlighting what has happened and some events coming up. Please be sure to check for any emails from our school.
Portland Public Schools Community Newsletter
Notifications via phone of upcoming events and important school news
To update parents on an upcoming event or change, Peaks Island School will send out a robocall message as well as a text message to all families with phone numbers on record. Please ensure that the school has your most recent cell phone number on file for this purpose in our Infinite Campus database. Please contact Pat Crowley-Rockwell if you need assistance.
Family Handbook
This handbook is on our school webpage and hard copies can be obtained at the front office.
