Dear Peaks Island Families,
What a week! Thank you parents, teachers, students, siblings, grandparents, and neighbors for sharing our students work. From the grade 5 book group to the school play and bake sale to our project based culmination, Digging Through History, our students shared their knowledge, voice, and humor with you all. Special shout outs to Kathy Simmonds, Cheryl Higgins, Celeste Bridgford, Kathryn Moxhay, Jonathan Downs, Jess George, Heather Boody, Danielle Ivers, Karen MacDonald, Kelly Mascolo, Zoe Ryan-Humphrey, and Savannah Mirisola-Sullivan.

For the foreseeable future, band will be on Wednesday mornings. Please make a note of this change. Thank you for this.
District wide Social Emotional Learning Climate Survey, grade 3-5
All upper elementary, middle and high school students in Portland Schools are taking a short climate survey this month. This week, Peaks Island students will take this online survey. Please look for a permission slip for this survey in your child’s backpack and you need only return by Monday, April 9th if you DO NOT want your child to participate.. Let me know if you have any questions about this information.
Green Team has begun
Ms. Mirisola and Ms. Ryan-Humphrey -- and most of the students at PIES-- are creating new procedures for recycling, composting, and chicken care. I could not be prouder of this group of young environmental stewards and their dedicated teachers.
Student Council brings FUN FRIDAYs to Peaks
No school this Friday. Fun Fridays resume on April 27th.
Prospective Island Fellow for PIES and PAL seeking housing
After much preparation, PIES and PAL (Peaks Assisted Living) submitted the application to secure an Island Institute fellow for the next school year. As you may have seen on NextDoor, we are seeking housing for the fellow. If you or someone you know has a winter rental available for the 2018-2019 school year, please send me or Julie Soule a note. Thank you!
