What's Happening at Peaks

Principal’s Notes

June 18,  2018

Dear Peaks Island Families,

Congratulations to Henry Wilson, Dillon Lynch  and Silas Wasklewicz  for taking first, second and third place in the annual American Legion essay contest.  We will get to hear Henry’s words about citizenship at the Grade 5 Farewell on Wednesday.

Our chickens need a summer rental

Please join me in welcoming five new baby chicks who will join our flock of four in the fall once they are fully grown. Thank you Rex Soucy and your family for caring for this younger flock over the weekend.  We need help with their care over the summer. Please consider taking either our older flock or this new flock under your wing for all or part of the summer.  If you prefer coming to school each day to water and feed both flocks, we can arrange that as well. We can not keep these birds if we can’t care for them over the summer; thanks for considering this opportunity to support our school’s sustainability mission in this easy way.

Annual Whole School Bike-the-Island, Monday, June 18th, 9:15-11:15

With thanks to Will Crosby for the pre-ride safety check and securing our rented helmets, our entire school will ride the island on tomorrow, Monday, June 18th.  We welcome all families to join our ride. YOU MUST RETURN YOUR CHILD’s WRITTEN PERMISSION slip to his teacher by the start of school tomorrow. If we do not have your written permission, your child will ride in the van with Ms. Angela.  We want to enjoy the island on what looks to be a beautiful day and ensure that all children are safe, as well. Ms. Angela will provide a mid-ride watering station on the back shore.

Grade 5 Breakfast, June 20th, 8:30

Thank you grade 5 parents for putting together the annual last day breakfast for our graduates and their families. Grade 5 students will join you at 8:30 in the Art Room, but parents can arrive as early as 7:15 for set up.

Grade 5 Farewell, June 20th, 10:00

We will host our grade 5 Farewell on Wednesday, June 20th in the gym.  Grade 5 students are dismissed at the end of the ceremony. However, grade K-4 students are dismissed at 3:05.  Thank you, parents, for keeping your younger children with us so they can participate in end of the year festivities with their classmates.
