What's Happening at Peaks

Principal’s Notes

June 19, 2017

Dear Peaks Island Parents,

There were so many parts of this past week and weekend  that made me eminently proud to work at this school.  There are three  more events that I want people  to know about that are occurring this week.

Bike Around the Island and Cookout on Centennial Beach, Monday, 11-2:30ish

With thanks to Angela, Ellen and Will Crosby for doing all of the heavy food prep and bike prep work,  we will depart for a ride around the whole island on Monday at 11.  ALL PARENTS AND LOVED ONES INVITED TO JOIN US! Will and Ellen will bring over bikes from Brad’s bikes and tune them up for students and staff who need them.  A teacher will lead and the rest of the parents and staff  will ride in the middle of the pack.  Angela who has used CLYNK money to shop for and prepare a cookout lunch for us will follow with the van, safety cones, food, and any students who can’t bike.  Once we arrive on Centennial Beach, she and other parents will begin food prep.  Kids may get in the water up to their knees in the area designated by safety cones with a staff person on watch. If any students struggle with this safety limit, they will lose the privilege to be in the water at all.  Around 2:30, we will bike back to the school.

Tuesday, June 20, K-2 to Broadturn Farm, 8:15-2:15 ferry

Ms. R-H and Ms. Forkapic will bring their students back to Broadturn Farm for an end of the year day of fun.  Kids will meet teachers down front at 8:00 to board the 8:15 ferry.  Students will return on the 2:15 ferry.

Thursday, June 22 last day of school details

8:30 Breakfast for grade 5 will be arranged and served by grade 5 parents in the art room at 8:30. Thank you again to Angela for creating the google doc and pulling this all together.

10:00 Grade 5 Farewell in the gym.  K-4 students will sit on the floor with their teachers.  Grade 5 will process in and sit on the stage under their silhouettes.  Grade 5 students and their loved ones report to the art room for cake and dismissal directly after the ceremony.

12:00  Bagged lunches for K-4 in classrooms.  Students dismissed at 12:30.
