What's Happening at Peaks

Principal’s Notes

January 15,  2018

Dear Peaks Island Families,

If you missed Friday’s Seagulls Times Radio Broadcast, don't despair! We have recorded the show and you can download to listen or share with your family. Here's where you can get it:

Amazing, right?! And although they don’t want any credit, shout outs to Morten Asbjornsen and Will Crosby for leading this enrichment for our students.

Winter Concert, Tuesday, January 16, 6:15

Tomorrow, we will host the annual Peaks Island Winter Concert with Kara Larochelle, Faith York and all of our students.  We ask that all students arrive at school by 5:50 and report to the art room on the night of the show.  Without giving too much away, I hope you’re ready for some rhapsodic music.

Chicken Care at PIES

We need your help.  Our four intrepid, heartier than the average chickens need your help.  If you spend a weekend here on island, please sign up for a weekend of chicken care duty on this google doc:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1l7fyr6i5kw0tPRK_GjAyiFGaAmchIURus4_Cent3XmE/edit

If you have any building skills, and let’s be honest, everyone who lives on Peaks has these skills, please contact me or Kelly Mascolo to volunteer a few hours this Wednesday or Thursday  to repair the chicken coop which was badly damaged this weekend during the latest storm.  Special shout out to parents Scott Kelley and Will Crosby who shored up the pen over the weekend and made sure that the chickens were safe and warm.  We honestly couldn’t do this kind of meaningful work and  innovation without community support.

Thank you, parents!

Parents, thank you for sending your child with boots, snow pants, hat, mittens and jacket everyday to school.  We want to keep students healthy, warm, and dry.

A note from Deb Chase:

Happy New Year! I hope you had a good vacation.

I have collected all the coupons to date.

So far only 7 children have turned in their coupons. If parents are holding on to books we would like them to turn in the coupons so we can record our progress on the chart in the library.
